BIO

I was born in Madrid, where I graduated in Fine Arts (with a double major in Restoration and Painting) and received my PhD with an Extraordinary Doctorate Award from the Complutense University of Madrid.

Since my student days I have been passionate about ancient and contemporary painting techniques and procedures. I was able to complete my training thanks to an FPI research grant (Madrid, Rome and Florence) and a Postdoctoral fellowship that culminated in a patent and several publications.

My work has a strong conceptual background combined with a deep technical knowledge. I express my wide plastic universe by elaborating my own materials based on epoxy resin combined with pigments, fillers, Nepalese and African papers, fiberglass and various innovative elements.

I have participated in more than 100 art exhibitions, receiving several awards. My works have traveled all over the world, from Spain to New York, London, Portugal, France, Italy, Iran, China, etc.

I combine my work as an artist with teaching activities. I am a Master Professor in Contemporary Techniques at the Escuela Superior de Conservación y Restauración de Bienes Culturales de Madrid and a Professor in Classical Techniques. This allows me to be at the forefront in my field and allows me to experiment with new pictorial formulas that I include in my creative process.
